Military Reserve

Military Reserve
750 North Mountain Cove Road

Military Reserve is approximately 479 acres of open space located in Northeast Boise. Amenities include hiking and mountain biking trails, an archery range, an historic military cemetery and a popular dog park.

The land was purchased from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management by the City of Boise in March 1956.  The access road and cemetery were subsequently transferred to the City of Boise.

The Reserve is comprised of natural terrain in the Boise Foothills.  Freestone and Cottonwood creeks run through the lower portion of the Reserve.  From these creek valleys, hill masses rise to heights of 100 feet or more.  Many of the trails are gentle and family-friendly.

The Military Cemetery is located on a hillside approximately 1/2 mile east of the U.S. Veteran's Administration hospital.  Veterans of the Mexican War, Civil War, Indian Wars, and Spanish American War are interred here.  There are also several civilian graves here.
